Roy Book Binder with Stefan George - Roy Book Binder is nothing short of an American treasure. His musical synthesis of blues and early country music comes from studying with Rev. Gary Davis and Pink Anderson. Today Roy is one of the finest interpreters of the Piedmont-style traditional blues, known by its intricate, ragtime-based fingerpicking. Roy is as much a storyteller as musician. He can riff on about Rev. Davis, Blind Lemon Jefferson, or Robert Johnson and keep fans howling in the aisles. He has toured with Rev. Gary Davis, Sonny Terry, Bonnie Raitt and Jorma Kaukonen. Come hear why Blues Review magazine called Book Binder "one of the finest blues fingerpickers active today." 7th Annual Plaza Palomino Courtyard Concert Series, June 11, 8pm. Advance tickets $14/$16 door. More info at (520) 297-9133. Tickets available at Antigone Books, Brew & Vine, CD City, and Enchanted Earthworks. Get tickets online now!

Leon Kittrell's soulful vocals have been heard on gold records from the Temptations to Stevie Wonder and Marvin Gaye. Statesboro has backed up everyone from Albert Collins to Charlie Musselwhite and Bo Diddley. With guitar, bass, keyboards, drums and saxophone, the band churns out the sweetest soul music this side of Memphis. Come hear why Charlie Musselwhite said, "Statesboro is one of the best. They make me feel good." 7th Annual Courtyard Concert Series. July 10, 8pm, Plaza Palomino, Swan & Ft. Lowell. $13 advance/$15 door. Jesse Cook - Rumba Flamenco Rhythms - "A flamenco virtuoso." Washington Post. Jesse Cook is an international phenomenon. Cook garnered the Juno award (Canadian equivalent to a Grammy) and three gold records. He is touring in support of his new CD, Nomad, which fuses flamenco guitar with sounds from Spain, Africa, Cuba, Egypt and Brazil. His last Tucson show sold out. 7th Annual Courtyard Concert Series. Larry Garner - Blues from Baton Rouge - "Larry Garner is the latest major blues star to emerge from the South Louisiana musical gumbo." - Living Blues. Born in New Orleans and raised in Baton Rouge, Larry Garner resembles Robert Cray and Keb' Mo: Garner deftly crafts a bridge between traditional and contemporary blues. It's no wonder Larry Garner is a W.C. Handy nominee for Contemporary Blues Artists of the Year. His soulful voice is the perfect foil for well-honed chops, but where he stands tallest is as a songwriter. Not content with "my baby left me" lyrics, Garner tackles modern themes such as single moms, children with guns and domestic violence, all the while keeping it fresh. Living Blues magazine writes, "he could be the real 'next big thing' in modern blues." 7th Annual Courtyard Concert Series. Aug. 7, 8pm - Plaza Palomino, Swan & Ft. Lowell, $13 advance/ $15 door. Tickets available at Antigone Books, Brew & Vine, CD City, and Enchanted Earthworks. More info at (520) 297-9133. Get your tickets online today!
