| Roy
Book Binder with Stefan George - Roy Book
Binder is nothing short of an American treasure.
His musical synthesis of blues and early country
music comes from studying with Rev. Gary Davis and
Pink Anderson. Today Roy is one of the finest interpreters
of the Piedmont-style traditional blues, known by
its intricate, ragtime-based fingerpicking. Roy
is as much a storyteller as musician. He can riff
on about Rev. Davis, Blind Lemon Jefferson, or Robert
Johnson and keep fans howling in the aisles. He
has toured with Rev. Gary Davis, Sonny Terry, Bonnie
Raitt and Jorma Kaukonen. Come hear why Blues
Review magazine called Book Binder "one of the
finest blues fingerpickers active today." 7th Annual
Plaza Palomino Courtyard Concert Series, June 11,
8pm. Advance tickets $14/$16 door. More info at
(520) 297-9133. Tickets available at Antigone Books,

| Larry
Garner - Blues from Baton Rouge - "Larry
Garner is the latest major blues star to emerge
from the South Louisiana musical gumbo." - Living
Blues. Born in New Orleans and raised in Baton
Rouge, Larry Garner resembles Robert Cray and
Keb' Mo: Garner deftly crafts a bridge between
traditional and contemporary blues. It's no wonder
Larry Garner is a W.C. Handy nominee for Contemporary
Blues Artists of the Year. His soulful voice is
the perfect foil for well-honed chops, but where
he stands tallest is as a songwriter. Not content
with "my baby left me" lyrics, Garner tackles
modern themes such as single moms, children with
guns and domestic violence, all the while keeping
it fresh. Living Blues magazine writes,
"he could be the real 'next big thing' in modern
blues." 7th Annual Courtyard Concert Series. Aug.
7, 8pm - Plaza Palomino, Swan & Ft. Lowell, $13
advance/ $15 door. Tickets available at Antigone
Books, Brew & Vine, CD City, and Enchanted Earthworks.
