You
have been told that Nogales, Mexico is a great place to shop, but
not a safe place to eat. Well, that's simply not true. Elvira's
restaurant and their English speaking staff have been serving meals
to American tourists since the Monroy family opened it in 1927.
The same family continues that same tradition today. No other restaurant
in Nogales has received so many culinary awards from food critics
in both the United States and Mexico. When Universal Studios came
to Nogales to film their Academy Award winner Traffic, Elvira's
was chosen to supply the food.
Getting to Elvira's is easy once you cross the border on foot, immediately
turn right. Do not follow the pedestrian flow to the center of town.
Once you've made that first, immediate right turn, continue to walk
parallel to the border (it should be on your right) for 3 ½ short
blocks. You are now at Elvira's front door. You can dine in their
heated patio or in their beautiful interior dining room. As you
can see on this website, their menu includes every type of Mexican
dish you could ever want, and some very interesting specialties.
Bottled water is the only kind of water served at Elvira's. Join
us for breakfast lunch or dinner and see for yourself why dining
here was an experience that Benicio Del Toro said he would never
forget.
Elvira's
is open 7 days a week. Your MasterCard or Visa is gladly accepted.
